Foss Building Sports Hall
Address: Foss Building Sports Hall, Lord
Mayor’s Walk Campus, Clarence Street, York.
Our indoor sports facility accommodates badminton, basketball,
netball, volleyball, an indoor climbing wall and is the venue for
our exercise classes and fitness suite.

Parking
We regret that there is no parking on our Lord Mayor's Walk site
except for visitors with a disabled badge.
There is a turning area provided for coaches (to allow
drop-offs) adjacent to the Skell Building but no parking provision
for coaches.
We advise that visitors to Foss Sports Hall make use of Union
Terrace pay and display Car/coach park on Clarence Street, or Monk
Bar pay and display car park on St John Street.
Evening visitors to Foss Sports Hall may park on site after 5pm
(in marked bays only).
Heworth Croft All Weather Pitch

Our All Weather pitch is a short 10 minute walk away from the
main York St John campus. The facility is a flood-lit, sand
based, full sized hockey pitch which can also accommodate other
outdoor sports for training such as Football. Adjacent to the All
Weather Pitch is an outdoor Netball Court (not flood-lit), and
portacabin changing and toilet facilities (no showers).
Parking
Car parking at the All Weather is restricted to a small number
of marked bays only (on the approach to the main AWP gate).
There is strictly no access to parking in the York Community and
Gymnastics Centre (YCGC) car park under any circumstances, nor may
the area be used for waiting or dropping off.
Please note that coaches are not permitted to enter the site and
that vehicular access beyond Heworth Green Road is restricted to
vehicles of up to 12 seats only.
We strongly recommend users of the All Weather facility find
alternate off-site parking at busy peak times (weekday evenings
6.00-8.00pm).
Directions
From A19 north (Thirsk)
At the roundabout with the A1237 (outer ring-road) take the
2nd exit and follow directions for the city centre
(about 2.5 miles). At Bootham Bar traffic lights turn left into
Gillygate to the next set of traffic lights and turn right onto
Lord Mayor’s Walk. Continue to the next set of traffic lights at
the far (Monk Bar) end of Lord Mayor’s Walk and turn left onto
Monkgate. About 400m ahead is a roundabout (Brigadier Gerard pub is
on the right). Go straight ahead (taking 2nd exit off
roundabout) onto Heworth Green Road. The entrance to Heworth Croft
is about 300m on the left through the new ‘Croft’ Bellway Homes
site.
From A19 south (Selby)
Continue on the A19 toward Fulford and the city centre.
Beyond Fulford Barracks and Police HQ (on your right) fork right
onto Cemetery Road following directions to the District Hospital,
northwards on inner ring road, keeping the city walls just on your
left. Continue ahead along Foss Islands Road past Morrisons to the
traffic lights. Go straight ahead at the junction/lights (city
walls still to your left)and on to the next set of lights (Monk Bar
hotel is on RH side). Turn right onto Monkgate. About 400m ahead is
a roundabout (Brigadier Gerard pub is on the right). Go straight
ahead (taking 2nd exit off roundabout) onto Heworth
Green Road. The entrance to Heworth Croft is about 300m on the left
through the new ‘Croft’ Bellway Homes site.
From the Outer Ring-road east (A1237 and A64)
Take the A1036 exit (roundabout) heading toward the city centre
(and Monk’s Cross shopping centre) on Malton Road. Continue
straight ahead for approximately 2 miles. You will pass Heworth
Golf Course on your right (and Heworth Stray on your left) before
coming to a small roundabout. Take the 3rd exit
(i.e right toward city centre). About 500m on your right
(shortly after a pedestrian crossing) is the new ‘Croft’ Bellway
Homes site and entrance to Heworth Croft.
Hull Road Sports Pavilion
Address: Hull Road Sports Pavilion, Hull Road,
York
The Hull Road Sports Ground is home to our three grass football
pitches and changing pavilion with showers. It is
sited in front of the David Lloyd Leisure Club
(about 2.5 miles from the main York St John campus). Access to the
facility is from the traffic lights at the junction of
Hull Road (A1079), Windmill Lane and Tang Hall lane, as though you
are entering David Lloyd's. Our pavillion is on the bend of
the access road.
Parking
Parking is available on site. Go
past the pavilion and turn right into our designated
car parking area, just before the barrier to David
Lloyd's own car park.
Directions
From the Outer Ring-road (A64)
Take the A1079 Hull Road exit and head toward the city centre
(also signposted for Grimston Bar Park and Ride). Continue straight
ahead, past B&Q, keeping in the right hand lane as you approach
the roundabout (BP Garage on right). Take the second exit,
continuing straight on. Just after the Black Bull pub on your left
is a set of traffic lights. Turn left at the lights.
From A19 south (Selby)
Continue towards Fulford and the city centre. After
Fulford Barracks and the Police HQ (on your right) fork right onto
Cemetery Road following directions to the District Hospital, on the
inner ring road. Continue through two set of lights (city walls in
front of you) and move into RH lane in order to turn right at the
next set of lights (Walmgate Bar on your left). Follow signs for
A1079/Hull. Continuing on the A1079 for approximately 1.5 miles
(passing both Jet and Esso Garages and Coop Supermarket) there
is a set of traffic lights, with Hull Road Sports Ground (and David
Lloyd Leisure Club) on your right behind the trees.
