Directions to our sports facilities

Foss Building Sports Hall

Address: Foss Building Sports Hall, Lord Mayor’s Walk Campus, Clarence Street, York.

Our indoor sports facility accommodates badminton, basketball, netball, volleyball, an indoor climbing wall and is the venue for our exercise classes and fitness suite.

Maps and directions to our Lord Mayor's Walk campus can be found here.

Parking

We regret that there is no parking on our Lord Mayor's Walk site except for visitors with a disabled badge.

There is a turning area provided for coaches (to allow drop-offs) adjacent to the Skell Building but no parking provision for coaches.

We advise that visitors to Foss Sports Hall make use of Union Terrace pay and display Car/coach park on Clarence Street, or Monk Bar pay and display car park on St John Street.

Evening visitors to Foss Sports Hall may park on site after 5pm (in marked bays only).

Heworth Croft All Weather Pitch

Address: Heworth Croft All Weather Pitch, Heworth Green Road, York

Our All Weather pitch is a short 10 minute walk away from the main York St John campus. The facility is a flood-lit, sand based, full sized hockey pitch which can also accommodate other outdoor sports for training such as Football. Adjacent to the All Weather Pitch is an outdoor Netball Court (not flood-lit), and portacabin changing and toilet facilities (no showers).

Parking

Car parking at the All Weather is restricted to a small number of marked bays only (on the approach to the main AWP gate).

There is strictly no access to parking in the York Community and Gymnastics Centre (YCGC) car park under any circumstances, nor may the area be used for waiting or dropping off.

Please note that coaches are not permitted to enter the site and that vehicular access beyond Heworth Green Road is restricted to vehicles of up to 12 seats only.

We strongly recommend users of the All Weather facility find alternate off-site parking at busy peak times (weekday evenings 6.00-8.00pm).
