Admissions Policy
3.221. Admission to some courses may
require additional stages to the selection process such as
interviews, auditions or the requirement of a portfolio this would
be if:
i. It
is a specific requirement of the programme of study
ii. The
applicant is a student not offering conventional qualifications
iii. It
is a requirement of an established progression route to the
University
3.222. In these cases, any additional
requirements will be clearly stated in the University prospectus
and Entry Profiles. Some examples of courses with additional
requirements include:
i. Applicants
to BHSc
(
Hons
) Physiotherapy will be required
to attend an interview as part of the selection process
ii. Applicants
to
BHSc
(
Hons
) Occupational Therapy will be
required to attend an interview as part of the selection
process
iii. Suitable
applicants to the Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE)
will be required to attend an interview as part of the selection
process
iv. Applicants
to BA (
Hons
) Fine Arts (and Joint Honours programmes)
will be required to submit a portfolio and attend an interview as
part of the selection process
v. Applicants
to
BA
(
Hons
) Product Design (and Joint Honours
programmes) will be required to attend of interview as part of the
selection process
vi. Applicants
to
BA
(
Hons
) Counselling (and Joint Honours programmes)
will be required to attend of interview as part of the selection
process
vii. Applicants to
BA
(
Hons
) Primary Education will be required to attend
of interview as part of the selection process
viii. Those applicants not meeting a
department’s minimum entrance requirements or desiring access
through the Mature Entry (ME), may at the Department’s discretion,
be invited to interview
3.223. The University reserves the right to
request further information in relation to an application either
directly from an applicant or from a former place of education.
3.224. Unfortunately the University is
unable to support attendance through reimbursement of expenses
accrued through participation at an interview.
3.225. All applications will be
considered equally, fairly and consistently having due regard to
currently implemented University policies and external legislative
frameworks as necessary.
3.226. Such policies in use can be found
in Appendix 2.
