Channel Four Inspiration Day

The Channel 4 ‘4Talent Kick Start’ event was held on the 27 October for aspiring media professionals, led by Glynn Ryland, Industry Talent Specialist of C4  and one of YSJU award winning graduates. We included our entire first year of film and television students including 22 external delegates all of whom took part in digital film making strands, presenting and journalism strands with lead industry professionals.

Three Faculty of Arts students have now been successful in obtaining work industry placements facilitated by Lucille Howe, published writer and television presenter, who led the Journalism masterclass for C4.

Aesthetica Film Festival Master classes

Over the day the Creative Business team welcomed over 250 International and UK wide Film Makers. We hosted the master-class programme delivered by a star studded team of international media, television and festival professionals including Claudette Godfrey Head Programmer for the internationally acclaimed South by South West Film Festival, Alex Williams; with over 20 years of industry experience; Alex has worked as a storyboard artist, character designer and animator on more than 30 feature films for Disney, Warner Bros, Fox, Dreamworks and Sony, recent work including the CGI for Harry Potter and Ivana Mackinnon - The Associate Producer of Hollywood blockbuster ‘Slum-Dog Millionaire.’ We also ensured our final year BA and MA FTV students and BA Media were allocated free places to at least one master class.  We also offered discounted passes to the whole festival for all of our Faculty of Arts students.

Enterprise Tuesdays

In November, the final Enterprise Tuesday event of the series took place at York St John University. The Creative Business team welcomed 42 external delegates to hear Keith Evans and Teo Greenstreet lead a seminar on economic and environmental sustainability challenges in business. We closed the evening with wine and networking. This culminates a year of monthly network working event that has proven to be a huge success. We will launch our new series in January 2012. More details to follow.
