York St John's Scholarship programme SPARK has supported
students from a wide variety of backgrounds to study academic and
professional programmes across the University since its launch in
2005.
This assistance has included
i) scholarships for new students just
starting at YSJU
ii) helping students who experience
unexpected hardship
iii) funding important placements and
exchange visits and enabling students approaching graduation to
prepare for the world of work or to start their own business
As SPARK continues to grow we are able to improve the
educational experience of more students at the
University.
Refreshingly our experience shows that many of the students who
benefit from donations reciprocate this generosity by working hard
to give something back to the University. This virtuous
circle is facilitated by a volunteer programme organised by the
Alumni Development Office. We estimate that these
students have done voluntary work in the Office to the value of
£10,000. By staying in regular contact with the students that your
gifts have supported we know that many of them speak about the
life-changing experiences and opportunities that you have made
possible.
