Mature Learners
Mature Learners are strongly represented within the
University Community. However we seek to raise the representation
of mature students who are returning to education with no previous
experience of Higher Education.
(Just to add; a mature student is anyone over 21 years of age
and we do not have an upper age limit for students to come to
study).
Confidence raising sessions can be delivered to groups as well
as can the short course ‘Is Higher Education for me’.
This is an accredited module that looks to identify potential
applicants strengths and interests, explores the UCAS system with a
view that they might apply for a subject of their choice in the
future. It also assists with writing a personal statement and
is a chance to consider any possible the hurdles there may be
in following an education path of the applicants choice.
There is also an opportunity to meet other mature students to
discuss how they have approached study later in life.
